Status Update

By way of a status update (a la Facebook), we wanted to write and let you know where we’re going to be the next couple of weeks.

Last Sunday, our family drove to Louisville to spend time with Tanya’s family – including Allison & Justin and Lilly, who will be traveling back to Africa this week.  Jon flew home on Tuesday, and has been working at home for the last few days.

On Wednesday, Jon will leave for Houston to participate in the CBF Assembly, then he and Tanya will fly to San Antonio to meet our local mission team headed to Mexico for a week!  If you’re not familiar with our yearly mission trip, we go to Piedras Negras, Mexico with an organization called Constructores Para Cristo based in Birmingham.

With CPC, our group of 21 members will build an entire house, from the foundation up, for an impoverished family. Both of us have been several times, and we find it more satisfying and rewarding each time to know that we’re giving of ourselves to meet someone’s need in a way that they really could not help themselves.

We’re excited to be going again, and we covet your prayers as we go, especially for safe and efficient travel. As you can see above, the trip encompasses a lot of travel plans, and several flights – which, as we all know, are subject to delays.

Thanks for your prayers – we’ll see you when we get back!

We especially covet your prayers tonight and into tomorrow. We will go at 7:00am tomorrow morning to say goodbye to Allison and Justin. I think it is finally becoming real for me…
